GAPO
Empowering Women, Youth & Children. Building Peace. Creating Hope.
To build an informed, peaceful, and empowered society where citizens actively participate in governance, uphold democratic values, and contribute to sustainable national development.
To promote civic awareness, foster peace and reconciliation, and enhance youth capacity through education, advocacy, and community-driven initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and national unity.
To have impact in the lives by providing high-impact oriented, cost effective and culturally competent capacity building programs to people in need especially youth, women and persons with disabilities.
General Alliance for Peace building Organization (GAPO) is a national non-government, non-partisan, and non-profit organization established by youth network to promote civic education, peace building, and youth empowerment across South Sudan. The organization emerged from the growing need to strengthen civic awareness, rebuild community trust, and empower young people, especially women and children, to become active agents of change in their communities.
South Sudan continues to face persistent challenges stemming from limited civic awareness, inter-communal conflicts, and limited opportunities for youth participation in governance and development. GAPO seeks to address these challenges through community-based education, dialogue, and capacity-building programs that promote unity, accountability and sustainable peace.
We believe in the wisdom of listening, the power of participation and the strength of informal dialogue and evidence-based approach to sustainable peace and development. Our organization aims at achieving sustainable results from development activities initiated by community especially with youth, widows, children and persons with disabilities.
GAPO works directly with the most vulnerable and influential members of society to create lasting change:
Legal Status: GAPO is registered as a national non-governmental organization with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) of South Sudan under Registration No. 5346, in accordance with the NGO Act, 2016.
